tv roundup
Spoilers for the most recently aired episodes of everything, except Greek.
Southland
Okay, you;re in fandom, so I assume you know how this goes. Someone links you to an astoundingly hot piece of fic, and next thing you know you're watching an entire new show. Take heart, though, the first season was only 7 episodes and it doesn't suck. I screwed up in trying to extrapolate backwards from the fic to the show; it's much more ensemble-y than I would have suspected. Also, after seven episodes, I still don't know half the characters' names. Oops? It maybe reminds me a bit of Rescue Me, although it's been a long time since I've kept up with that show, so I could be mistaken. Except it doesn't have Denis Leary, which is a positive thing. (Not that I have anything against Denis Leary, but I think his work on both sides of the camera on Rescue Me led to some of the stupid plotlines where his middle-aged alcoholic firefighter character was being pursued by several different beautiful women, and, really?) Back to the point, I am also curious to see what they do with the gay thing. (I found the way they even introduced the gay thing interesting. Subtle, but not subtle. Like, it's there, but they're not calling any attention to it.)
True Blood
I don't even know what to do with this show. *hands*
Burn Notice
-I am intrigued by this cop thing! I was beginning to wonder why the cops never came after Micheal, but I had always chalked it up to handwavium. I'm worried that keeping it up is going to be problematic, though.
-I'm still sad that they killed off both Daniel Jackson and Six.
-I liked the Fiona/Michael thing better when there was less relationship talk and more UST and violent sex.
-Micheal's willingness to volunteer for undercover positions where he gets the shit beat out of him is interesting. He should perhaps consider therapy.
Royal Pains
It might be a cool idea, but the pacing sucks and the characters are boring.
Kings
Oh, Kings. I am sad you are canceled. I am also sad that out of all the cool things you are trying to do, so few of them appear with any regularity on the screen. Watching Kings always gives me the sense that something awesome is going to start happening, any moment, but then it doesn't. Also, David: still dumber than a box of rocks. Michelle: still dumber than a box of rocks, and totally unaware of hazmat gear. Actually, Gilboa as a whole may be unaware of hazmat gear, which I find bizarre.
Greek
Why am I watching this? I don't even know. I go back and forth between liking it and hating myself for liking it. I have no OTPs, but I do have an OT4. Or the entire case could have an orgy, that'd be okay too.
