Question: What do zombie movies and articles about the
continuing "fame" of Heidi & Spencer Pratt have in common?
Answer: the instinctual response of "oh my god.... they can't be stopped. Shoot them! SHOOT THEM IN THE HEAD!"

So anyway, this weekend I saw Leonard Cohen, and that was amazing. Sadly, Fi and I had to leave a little early to catch the train back up to the city. While it would have been awesome to get to stick around for the rest of the second set and encores, we got to hear most of the other songs we really wanted to, and we got to sit there and say "oh my god, that's actually leonard cohen... and he sounds just like himself." Which was really the main reason to go to this show. Plus, due to the placement of a curtain, we got moved from nosebleeds to actually pretty decent seats. And much like I want a Pocket!Tim Gunn to offer me motivating affirmations and self-esteem boosts on a daily basis, I would also very much like a Pocket!Leonard Cohen to introduce me to people, as his band introductions were the best ever. Not that his band didn't deserve awesome introductions. They totally did. They were all phenomenal.
Also... he skipped to and fro on stage a few times, and that was so far beyond endearing it's actually a little hard to wrap my mind around.
Then we crashed out at the apartment for most of Saturday before heading over to Bottom Of The Hill to see Dear and the Headlights with miss
frausorge. This... was not the best show of the year. The show had been listed as starting at 9, but the first band didn't go on until 10, and they were not very good. Or, less kindly but more honestly, they were very not good. The second band, however, was Kinch, and they were lots of fun. Though my first reaction when they hit the stage, due to the singers glasses, was "and after the war, Harry started a band."
Finally at just about midnight, Dear went on. And yeah, it was worth the wait and they were fun and high energy and I remembered why I've now drug myself out twice to see them specifically (which may actually make them the band I've seen the most this year... it's been a weird year). But it was also midnight at the start and nearly one at the finish. So I was very tired when they were done, and we didn't stick around to see if there was an encore type thing. Still, they are a band i like more live than on CD, and it was really great to get to see them again.
The four shows in five days thing was definitely a little too much for me if the way I was dragging all day yesterday (and still am today) is any indication.

And now I get back to the utterly thrilling survey data entry. yay.
